Ms. Maha Ali Y. Al-Hammadi is the Head of the Chemical Management Section, Department of Radiation and Chemical Protection (RCP) at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Qatar. She holds a Bachelor in Chemistry from the University of Qatar and an Msc in Sustainability from the University of Leeds, where she engaged with topics such as Biochemistry, Climate Change and Mitigation, Environmental Policies and Governance. After her studies, Ms. Al-Hammadi joined the Ministry of Municipalities and Environment in 2006 as a chemical research first and quickly becoming the Assistant Director for the International Cooperation Department. In 2010, she joined the Radiation and Chemical Protection Department as Head of the Safety and Risk Assessment Section and, in 2012, she became the Head of the International Hazardous Convention Section.
Part of her current responsibilities includes updating of the chemical management laws and procedures, in accordance with the international conventions on Chemicals and following its implementation, cooperating with international bodies and working in different conventions, programs and projects on Environmentally Sound Chemical Management with UNEP.
